Fox-Fordyce disease is a rare skin disease that is seen in women between the age of 13 and 36 years. The disorder is also known as ‘sweet retention disease’ or ‘apocrine duct occlusion’
Fox-Fordyce disease is evident in the form of itchy, raised areas around the hair follicles of the under arm area, around the nipples and even in the pubic region. This can result in the inflammation of the ‘aprocrine sweat glands’ found in these areas.
Fox-Fordyce symptoms: The symptoms include itching that can interfere with one’s sleep. Overall, apart from itching that increases in times of heat, stress and humidity, there is nothing that can cause a dramatic rise. The papules that are visible are dome shaped, reddish and small, seen in almost possible hair folice. Due to itching, the skin becomes thick and dark(lichenification). Another thing is that the area has reduced sweating.
For-Fordyce Disease Causes: One does not know the reasons for Fox-Fordyce diseae but it is possible that the apocrine glands produce sweat that is trapped in the hair follicle. The ducts may tear, leak and cause inflammation and itching. Hormonal influences, stress and overfunctioning of sweat glands may be the reasons for the disorder
Is there a cure for Fox Fordyce disease? There is no cure for the disease, it may continue for years or clear up in pregnancy or disappear at menopause in some cases.
Treatment for For-Fordyce Disease: Fox-Fordyce disease treatment options are possible even though there is no cure. Some of the treatment options include: topical steroids, oral antibiotics, Antiandrogenic Hormonal Therapy, Topical retinoids etc. The other treatment options include dermasion, liposuction, phototherapy etc.
Thanks for the distinct tips shared on this blog site. I have observed that many insurance companies offer customers generous deals if they elect to insure more and more cars with them. A significant amount of households have got several motor vehicles these days, particularly those with older teenage children still dwelling at home, along with the savings on policies can easily soon begin. So it pays off to look for a bargain.
