Allegra Dosage
You should take Allegra on an empty stomach, 1 hour or 2 hours before you have meal, as directed by your doctor. High fat meals can actually reduce the absorption of the medicine in the blood, and decrease the effectiveness of the medication. You should swallow the whole tablet without chewing or crushing. If you chew or crush it, all of the medication is released at once, increasing the side-effects
What should I bear in mind while taking Allegra?
1. If you miss the dose, take it as soon as you remember. If it is the time to take the next dose, it is beter to skip the previous dose.
2. If there is an overdose, you should seem prompt medical attention or call 1-800-222-1222. The symptoms of allegra overdose include drowsiness, dizziness and dry mouth
3. Do not take antacids within 15 minutes, before or after taking the medication
4. Unless the doctor advises, do not take allergy or cold medicines on your own
Can you take Allergra with orange juice?
If you take Allegra with orange juice, the medicine loses nearly 40 percent of its effectiveness. It is not just with orange juice, Allegra should not be taken with grape juice, apple juice as well. You can however take the medication with water. If you take Allegra with fruit juice like orange, the active ingredients of the medicine is not absorbed by the body. So, it is best to wait for 3 to 4 hours after taking Allergra and then drink your favorite fruit juice. You can however take Allegra with water.
