Office health and safety is important not only for your good health over a long-term basis but also for work productivity.Let us see how we can maintain good health at work following these tips:
Ensure that your chair is adjustable-align the height, arm rests and back according to your requirements. When you sit, your feet should rest flat on the floor and your thighs should be parallel to the floor. Arm rests should be adjusted in such a way that you don’t slouch or hunch.
Your computer monitor needs to be directly in front of you. Adjust the height so that top of the screen is at your eye-level.
Use a mouse pad with a soft padding so that you can rest your wrist on it. This will help prevent dark marks from appearing on your wrists. While typing or using a mouse, raise your forearms a bit so that your wrists are in a neutral position, making your arms and hands move freely.
Pay attention to your posture. Do not slouch while sitting. This puts pressure on your back. Relax your shoulders, keep your feet flat on the floor and do not lean on the table.
Reduce vision problems risk by adjusting the contrast of your computer monitor screen. Put a glass screen on the monitor that screens out the harmful radiations that can cause vision issues and headache. Do not place a computer screen in front or next to a window because it leads to visual stress and ‘contrast’ problems. If at all, you sit next to a window, place your PC monitor at a 90 degree angle from the window.
Use window blinds to minimize the glare of the sun
